Applied Tourist Guidance

Overview

A tour guide escorts groups or individuals through an area of interest, providing educational details along a planned route. Sometimes a tour guide might lead tourists through a structured exploration of a building or region or act out a guided story as a character in costume. Other tour guides might operate a bus or a boat, delivering information while escorting guests from one location to another. In this special course, you will learn how to deal with tourists, protect them and create their entertainment through best practices of tourists guidance.

Course Objective

By the end of this course participant will be able to:

  • Be able to escort individuals or groups on cruises, sightseeing tours, or through places of interest such as industrial establishments, public buildings, and art galleries.
  • Train the participants to monitor visitors' activities in order to ensure compliance with establishment or tour regulations and safety practices.
  • Greet and register visitors, and issue any required identification badges and/or safety devices.
  • Recognize the basics in physical safety of groups, performing such activities as providing first aid and directing emergency evacuations.
  • Practice special communication skills with tourists like memorizing and reciting tour scripts or stories
